Parenting takes time

Yes, I know this might seem like an obvious statement but how many of you actually think that through? You should think about parenting as a full time (24/7) job that takes time, effort and thoughtfulness.

You are responsible for teaching your children how to be good citizens. That involves not just education from the academic standpoint but also manners and hospitality, safety and emergency routines, how to be kind and thoughtful and brave, how to tie a bow and braid their hair and wash their hands and use a fork and knife and set the table, and then there is the whole spiritual dimension of education.

The list goes on just about forever. If you don’t teach your children, believe me, the world will and it is often a harsh world. How can one teach a child if their behavior is always contentious and demanding and out of control? A child that is well disciplined is a much happier and peaceful child but IT TAKES TIME to discipline a child. I would encourage you for your child’s sake as well as your own to take that time.
